Algerian imports of power and electro-technology increase by 24.5 per cent

According to ZVEI – the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers“ Association, Algerian imports of power and electro-technology increased by 24.5 per cent within just four years. The Algerian government plans to continuously develop the country“s infrastructure by means of its third 5-year-investment program worth 262 billion US dollars. Against this backdrop, Algeria“s leading trade show for power and electro-technology, electro, automation & energy 2015 is scheduled to be held in Algiers from 23 to 25 February at the Palais des Expositions d’Alger. The event is organised by the trade fair specialists from fairtrade Messe and its German-Algerian team.

The energy and electrical engineering sector since long represents one of the major growth industries of Algeria. This is reflected in the Algerian import figures, published by ZVEI – the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers“ Association. Algerian imports of power and electro-technology increased from 2.678 billion Euro in 2010 to 3.336 billion Euro in 2013, a plus of 24.5% within just four years. China, France, Italy, the USA, Germany and Spain are the major supplier countries.

The third 5-year investment program 2014-2019 worth 262 billion US dollars targets to develop the country“s infrastructure and to improve the living conditions for the Algerians. This was announced by the Algerian National Agency for Development and Investment Promotion (ANDI). This program also offers lots of business opportunities for foreign suppliers as Algeria attaches great importance to know-how transfer in the technology sector.

„After the above-average satisfaction rate of the exhibitors of electro, automation & energy 2014 and a decision-makers“ rate of 76 percent among visitors, the exhibition in 2015 will once again serve as a platform for valuable business contacts,“ says Martin März, Managing Director with fairtrade. In the official exhibitor survey, 90 percent of them stated that they were satisfied or very satisfied with the exhibition. 85 percent would recommend the show. In addition, most of the exhibitors stated that they want to participate again in the 9th electro, automation & energy to be held from 23 to 25 February 2015.
